Nearby Walcot Stables offer lessons for all ages in a safe and picturesque environment and hacks around the beautiful Walcot Estate and surrounding hills.

Bishop's Castle has an active tennis club, 2 bowling greens and a sports and recreation centre (SpArC) where there is a gymnasium, swimming pool and squash courts.

The Long Mynd is popular with birdwatchers and recently red kites have reappeared. As well as being an location for very active hang gliding, paragliding and gliding, with the Midland Gliding Club. The area is also popular for balloon flights - views of the Shropshire countryside are even better from the air than from ground level. Launching takes place at Linley Hall, a few miles away and also at Bishop's Castle.

The Onny valley is world famous for geology and fossils. The Shropshire landscape has some of the oldest rocks in Britain dating from the Pre-Cambrian epoch.

Shropshire fishing offers trout and coarse fishing at White Grit, about ten miles away on A488 between Bishop's Castle and Minsterley. 3 trout fishing pools stocked with blues, browns and rainbows to 19lbs. 2 coarse fishing pools consisting of a pleasure pool with 20 pegs and a carp specimen pool with 25 pegs with carp to 25 lbs plus. There is a fishing lodge with tackle, bait, refreshments, good toilet facilities , disabled access and a small caravan and camping site. The whole site is set below Corndon Hill in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Open all year.
